A quick reset only takes 12 seconds. It involves thinking of something positive in your life and taking a moment to appreciate it.
Use the following exercise at least three times this week. Try this exercise every time you feel negative.
Record how you feel physically and emotionally before and after each exercise.
- Think of something positive, such as a person you love, a compliment you recently received, an accomplishment that makes you feel proud, or a favorite place to visit.
- Close your eyes and really focus on this positive thought.
- Take one deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
- Notice how this positive thought impacts your body and mood.
It's normal to experience days where you have more negative feelings than other days. It only takes 12 seconds for our brains to create new neural connections, changing the way we think and feel.
